Shahab has submitted his PhD thesis entiled “Adolescent pregnancy and maternal health care-seeking behavior of married adolescent girls in Bangladesh and Nepal”, under pretigious Erasmus Mundus Trans Global Health Joint-Doctoral Program from the VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands, University of Barcelona, Spain and the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp, Belgium. Shahab also holds an advanced Masters in Public Health Methodology from the Free University Brussels (ULB) in Belgium, a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the North South University and a Bachelor of Molecular Medicine & Bio-informatics from the University of Development Alternative. Before joining at the JPGSPH as an Assistant Scientist, he worked for more than three years at the Department of Public Health, ITM where he was involved in conducting research, teaching and coaching of MPH students.


Shahab has been trained in Europe (Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Norway), USA, Canada, Thailand, South Africa and Bangladesh in the areas of mixed-methods research, research ethics, transdisciplinary methods, evidence-based decisions and policy communications. He is a PRB (Population Reference Bureau) policy communications fellow, and awarded as an Emerging Voice for Global Health 2016 by the Health Systems Global. He is also a recipient (first Bangladeshi) of HIV Research Trust fellowship.


Shahab’s areas of interest include adolescent health, maternal and reproductive health, health systems and gender equity.
