Sairana Ahsan is a Research Fellow at JPGSPH, BRAC University, Bangladesh. She completed her MSc Public Health from University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom with a Commonwealth Scholarship. At present, she is a part of the research team of ‘Preventing early and child marriage in poor urban settlements in Bangladesh’ project, which is a three year long mixed-method project funded by IDRC Canada. Her previous projects at JPGSPH include “Gender and Adolescence: Global Evidence (GAGE)” (funded by DFID, UK) and Share-Net Bangladesh (funded by Share-Net International, the Netherlands).


She completed her Bachelors in Pharmacy from North South University, Bangladesh and has previously worked in a multi-national pharmaceutical company, Sanofi Bangladesh Ltd., in product management. She has more than four years of professional experience in the health sector of Bangladesh, including hospital management sector, the antibiotic market, scientific knowledge dissemination through seminars, and doctor-pharmaceutical organisation relationship.


Ms Ahsan’s prime focus in her research career is qualitative research and her areas of research interest involves mental health, sexual and reproductive health rights, women’s health, health inequalities and visual representation of research objectives.
