LAUNCH OF THE EU FUNDED Trans4m-PH PROJECT

The European Union funded “Transformative Competency-Based Public Health Education for Professional Employability in Bangladesh’s Health Sector (Trans4m-PH)” project was successfully launched on Thursday, 24 January, 2019.

BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University (BRAC JPGSPH); International Centre for Climate Change & Development (ICCCAD), Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB); and Asian University for Women (AUW) have jointly been awarded the prestigious European Union 2018 ERASMUS+ ‘Capacity Building in Higher Education’ Grant for USD 1 Million.

Led by BRAC JPGSPH this pioneering tripartite institutional partnership will collaboratively implement the 3-year Trans4m-PH Project, from 2019-2021. BRAC JPGSPH, ICCCAD and AUW will design and offer indigenous Competency-based Public Health (PH) Curricula which ensure professional skills development and strategically address the chronic skilled workforce shortage in Bangladesh’s Health Sector. Professor Sabina F. Rashid, Dean, BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University is the Lead Coordinator for this project.
The Project’s European capacity-building technical partners are Maastricht University (UM), Netherlands and Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK.

BRAC JPGSPH LAUNCHES NEW SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship

BRAC JPG School fo Public Health launched the “Amena Azfar and Hurmatunnessa Rob Scholarships” on December 1, 2018, for women pursuing an MPH degree at the School. The scholarship comes as a gift from  Dr Mushtaque Chowdhury who has been the advisor to the school since 2014.  Dr Chowdhury was the founding Dean of the School and played a critical role in establishing the School in 2004

TV Series - "Icche Dana"

UNICEF in collaboration with Asiatic 360 rolled out an Entertainment-Education campaign addressing issues such as child marriage and other critical behaviours like menstrual hygiene, adolescent health, sexual abuse, and harassment. BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University intends to evaluate the social and normative impact of this Edutainment campaign among adolescents and their parents. Part of the media campaign includes a 26 episode TV series - "Icche Dana", which is aired on three different channels - BTV (Saturday at 7.10 PM), ATN Bangla (Tuesday at 8 PM) and Duranta TV (Friday at 9.30 PM).
